Christian Legal Aid of the District of Columbia (“CLADC”) is a nonprofit, non-partisan, Christian legal services organization registered as a public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Founded in 2006, CLADC sees an enormous opportunity to connect the vast legal resources from among the Washington, D.C. legal community with the immense need for legal services from among the city’s poorer residents. Motivated and guided by our Christian faith, we believe to whom much is given, much is expected. As such, this is but one way for us to respond by using the talents that we have been given to serve the poor and needy among us.
CLADC is always looking for more attorney and non-attorney volunteers. We seek people who share our mission. There are several ways you can partner with CLADC. If you are not already volunteering for CLADC, we invite you to come use your gifts. Those with a legal background (attorneys, paralegals, law students) can help advise clients at our clinics under the supervision of a DC-barred attorney. Even if you do not have a legal background or any prior legal experience working with the poor and homeless, we can still use your talents in a variety of ways. You simply need a heart to serve others with a desire to see tangible, effective results. And while our Christian faith is at the core of what guides us, that does not mean you must be a Christian to either volunteer with or receive legal services from us.
How can CLADC better engage the Christian community and serve as a bridge for mobilizing attorneys and others to more thoughtfully address issues of social justice for the poor? Click here to find out more.
